RECENTLY, the Vale Foodbank received a donation of more than £1,000 worth of food from a project involving Cowbridge Rotary Club and Filco Supermarket.

Cowbridge Rotary Club president Carol Hallewell explained: “Rotary is an international organisation and has its own charity – ‘The Rotary Foundation’. Members donate on an annual basis and some of the worldwide work carried out in its name can be seen via its website.
“However, 50% of the donations made to the foundation are returned to the district and allow clubs to support their own nominated causes, which for this year has seen the club donate to The Vale Foodbank.
“This would not have been possible without the support and help of Filco Stores in Llantwit Major and its general manager Nathan to bring this all together.
“The club has now facilitated three large donations to the food banks and will be looking to make further in the future. The club would like to thank Nathan for his support on this project”.
Cowbridge Rotary is now planning its events through the spring and summer months, starting with its Monthly Boot Sales starting on Sunday, 14th April, in Cowbridge Town Hall Car Park.
