A NEW way of enjoying quality curries is coming to Cowbridge – after being a regular feature of Cardiff cuisine for almost 30 years.
The Gateway Of India first opened in Rhiwbina, Cardiff, in 1995 and also has an established branch in Penarth. The company is setting up shop in Cowbridge town centre, in the distinctive unit on the bridge that crosses the River Thaw at the Old Mason’s Yard.
The Gateway Of India’s philosophy is simple – presenting authentic, inventive recipes passed through founder and head chef Moslaur Rahman’s family. The food is grounded in a simple premise – from India with love.
Moslaur said: “It’s this that makes the difference – not just from our recipes, handed down and honed, but also what goes into our dishes; from the highest quality Norfolk chicken to the finest onions we can find.
“We’re not like other takeaways.
“We choose to tread our own path with our famous blast-chilled, heat-at home philosophy which we believe gives you a fresher, more nutritious taste and greater convenience around busy lives. A taste of the remarkable – bursting with ardour, flavour and joy. From us to you, from India with love.”
Moslaur recalls that in 1995, his small Cardiff takeaway struggled for a while to have the cold food ‘heat at home’ concept accepted. How times have changed.
Recently, Gateway Of India invested in a £50,000 refurbishment, a rebrand and the introduction of ‘Grab & Go’ fridges which means customers need only spend an average of five minutes in the shop.
Moslaur Rahman and his highly skilled team believe they have raised the bar of the expected Indian takeaway experience. Their inspired and innovative Indian dishes have received considerable recognition and accolades that further testifies the team’s passion and mastery. From premium fresh Welsh lamb to farm assured finest quality chicken, every ingredient meets their own exceptional standards.
