PORTHCAWL’s Grand Pavilion will get an £18 million revamp after Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) was awarded the cash that will go towards renovating the Grade II listed building.
The cash has been allocated by the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund. A Government spokesperson said that the building had deteriorated after years of “piecemeal refurbishments”.
An official announcement will be made by the Secretary of State for Wales, David TC Davies, today (Thursday).
The spokesperson said: “The Grand Pavilion will be transformed into a multi-use facility which will provide a space to socialise, learn, access information, improve skills, create jobs and celebrate the significant heritage that this building encompasses.”
The Grand Pavilion is owned by BCBC and is managed by the Awen Cultural Trust. Full details of plans for the building are expected in the next few days.
