THE throaty rumble of Harley Davidson motorbikes could be heard as members of the Welsh Dragon Chapter Harley Owners Group descended on the normally tranquil town of Cowbridge on Saturday, 14th September.
In this annual event, the group of enthusiasts paraded through the town on their Harleys, accompanied by a fire engine from Cowbridge and a police motorcycle.
A large gathering of spectators welcomed them with waves, cheers and smiles prior to a social event held for all to enjoy whilst viewing some of the most recognisable bikes ever made.
Welsh Dragon Chapter group is part of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) established in 1983 as a way of strengthening and extending the bonds between Harley-Davidson, its employees, and consumers.
Speaking to the Glamorgan Star, Kevin Fowler, head road captain of the Welsh Dragon Chapter Cardiff said: “We have held the event in Cowbridge for five years and are made to feel welcome by the town.
“It’s more of a social event for members who get together from all over Wales and is appreciated by Cowbridge B&Bs and businesses giving them a welcome boost over the weekend.
“There are two Harley-Davidson groups in Wales, the other being the Swansea Black Mountain Chapter. And there is a Harley subgroup for woman, some being Harley-Davidson owners themselves.
“We are very much a touring group really and have been all over Europe including the Alps, Portugal and Budapest. There is also a close relationship with Normandy and Italy.
The Welsh Dragon Chapter Harley Owners Group would like to thank the residents and businesses of Cowbridge and especially the crew at the fire station. The group meets up on the first Tuesday of the month at the Ty Mawr Pub in Cardiff.
