A PENDOYLAN primary school teacher, Kay Collingridge of Welsh St Donats, together with her niece Becky Thomas from St Hilary, raised more than £10,000 by running the recent London marathon.
They ran in memory of Kay’s twin sister Helen to raise funds for ‘Coppafeel’ the UK’s only youth focussed breast cancer charity on Sunday 26th April. The mission of the charity is to raise awareness of breast cancer in young people by encouraging early detection through education and regular checking – as catching it early is crucial and can save lives.
Becky, 28, also primary school teacher, is Helen’s god-daughter, finished the race in an excellent 3 hours 39 minutes, while Kay’s time of 4 hours 33 minutes was very impressive for someone who has just turned 50.
