New faces at Barry Community Choir:
After a four-week break, the Barry Community Choir have made some major changes.
It has been a difficult time for the choir after losing their conductor and accompanist this summer, but things seem to be looking up for this Christmas term as they welcome new musicians.
Local singer, teacher and music director, Alison Shone has joined the choir, becoming their new conductor.
A choir spokesperson said: “Alison’s beautiful voice captured the attention of choir member Beryl, who immediately knew she would be a perfect fit for the choir. After visiting St John’s Methodist Church to hear the choir sing, Alison was very keen to take up the position as the choir’s conductor.”
Alison will be working alongside the choir’s new accompanist, Rob Lloyd. The pair have already developed a good relationship after just two weeks of working alongside one another.
The choir are already “absolutely loving Alison” as they prepare for their Christmas concert on 11th December.
Changes have also been made to the rehearsal schedule with the choir now meeting on Wednesdays at 7pm to 8.30pm to encourage new voices. For more information on the choir email
