Rhoose Lifeguards celebrate strong showing at Open Nationals
RHOOSE Lifeguards took a small but mighty team of seven competitors to the SLSGB Open Nationals, held at Fistral Beach, Newquay, from 4th–6th September, finishing an impressive seventh overall at the pinnacle event of the season.
The team produced some outstanding performances across the weekend, with Evie Wong leading the way with three individual gold medals. Evie claimed victory in the Oceanwoman, Flags and Sprints events, while also securing a silver medal in the Double Ski alongside Ava Wong.

The Flags and Sprints events saw further success with Rhoose dominating across the female beach events, with Rosie Chick taking silver in both, and Ava Wong securing bronze in both events.
There was also a special achievement in the Double Ski, where Sol Bartram and Petros finished an excellent fifth. Petros, Oliver and Sol also demonstrated their strength as a team, making every relay final and showing determination, teamwork and commitment throughout the competition.
For Sol Bartram, competing in his first SLSGB Open Nationals was an experience he will not forget. After taking a ski to the face during one of the races, he showed tremendous resilience, getting back on his ski and continuing to compete until the end.
Despite travelling with just seven competitors, Rhoose Lifeguards once again demonstrated the quality, spirit and determination within its senior team, finishing the national championships on a high.
