Annual Ogmore tractor run visits the Vale:
The annual Ogmore Castle Tractor Run was held recently.
While the event was held in very good weather, unfortunately the heavy rain overnight and early morning put a lot of people off. However, 20 tractors turned up and a number of new faces took part. There were also two vintage motor bikes and they proved to be an asset to the run by acting as outriders – controlling traffic and tractors at the many junctions crossed on the route.
This year’s trophy was presented to Tom Parry and his David Brown tractor. The money raised will be shared between two local charities. Again, thanks must go to Rob Williams of Ogmore Farm for the use of his field and his continued support. The death of David Anthony of Cwm Risca Farm, Tondu, was sadly noted. He was a long-time supporter of the Glamorgan Iron Horse Vintage Society, which organised the tractor run.
Following a tour through the Vale of Glamorgan, the tractor run concluded at the St Athan Aerodrome where all participants were watered and fed. The annual Ogmore Castle Tractor Run is held annually on the first Sunday in October.
