A PRIMARY school pupil from St Athan, Felicity Mae Dutton, is aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s youngest female author to publish a book series and sell 1,000 copies.
Felicity May was introduced to the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, who congratulated her and wished her good luck with the World Record attempt.
She took two of her books to show the Prime Minister – My Pig is Big and My Bunny is Funny.
Felicity Mae was six years old when she started writing the books, after her teacher at Llanfair Primary, Mrs Mayes, asked her to write a poem as homework. Felicity decided to focus her poem on animals and specifically a big pig which led to her first book titled My Pig is Big.
Vale MP Alun Cairns was delighted to welcome Felicity Mae and her family to Parliament. He said: “Having first met Felicity Mae in November last year, it has been amazing to see her book series grow and it has been a privilege to support her in doing so. Felicity Mae’s family should be so proud – and I know they are. Well done Felicity Mae!”
Felicity Mae’s mother Laura said: “The Prime Minister wanted to congratulate Felicity on her amazing achievement for the book series she has written and for her World Record Attempt – Youngest Female Author of a book series.
“We would like to thank the Prime Minister and everyone else we met whilst in Parliament for being so kind and generous with their time.
“We also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has bought one of Felicity’s books so far, and for making this happen.
“We are so Proud of Felicity and everything she has achieved. Please share this wonderful story with your friends and family!”
For Felicity Mae to claim the official record, she needs to sell a minimum of 1,000 copies of her books and with around 100 to go she is hoping to soon become a Guinness World Record holder.
