A LIFESAVING public access defibrillator has been stolen from outside The Windsor pub in Penarth.
The defibrillator was reported missing on Monday, 22nd April, and the holding cabinet was also damaged when the thieves forced it open.
The device was installed by charity Calon Hearts, who have fitted 28,670 public access defibrillators across Wales during the last 12 years at a current cost of around £1,200 each. The charity’s long-term aim is to ensure that nobody in Wales is ever more than 100 meters away from a defibrillator.
Calon Hearts founder and director Sharon Owen expressed anger and sadness at the theft: “I am deeply saddened that the defibrillator has been stolen.
“Do the thieves know that these devices could save their lives one day or that of a loved one?
“I appeal to the conscience of whoever has taken it to do the right thing and please put it back, because somebody’s life could depend on it,” she said.
