A Barry Island charity continues to seek community help in finding a stolen mini bus by making it ‘too hot to handle’.
Dementia support charity Tŷ Hapus had their Navy Blue Ford Transit stolen between the hours of 6pm on Thursday (2nd November) and 9am on Friday from outside its bungalow at Breaksea Drive.
Taking to social media over the weekend, Ty Hapus posted an image of the mini bus and commented: “Stolen, our faithful minibus we use for our guests nearly every day for our service. Please make it too hot to handle and share everywhere please.”
The minibus was a crucial link for Tŷ Hapus visitors and the outside world and now leaves them without a mode of transport to help get out and about.
The dark blue minibus with index number DX13 XBU is an 11-seater Ford Transit with a disability platform lift at the rear. At the time of the theft, it was displaying the Tŷ Hapus logo on the sides.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “This mini bus is a vital part of the service and respite we provide to people living with Dementia and their families.
“The police were informed immediately and are attempting to find it. If anyone has any information, please contact them.”
South Wales Police (SWP) commented: “We can confirm we received a report of a stolen Ford transit minibus from Breaksea Drive in Barry.
“We are appealing for witnesses and any CCTV footage.”
