Campaigners who want to save the Old Girls’ School in Cowbridge have been granted a debate on the issue in the Senedd
However, the scheduling of the debate has been announced at short notice – it will take place on Wednesday, 16th February. As a result, the campaign group is encouraging supporters to write to their Members of Senedd – both the Vale MS Jane Hutt and their regional Members of Senedd.
Sara Pederson of the SAVE Cowbridge Old Girls’ School group told the Glamorgan Star: “The debate is scheduled to last 30 minutes and we want the Senedd to be aware of the strength of feeling.
“This debate has come about as a result of a petition that more than 5,500 people signed from across all of Wales urging the Welsh Government to act to protect the school building from demolition. We are asking everyone to write to both their local and regional MS to ask them to participate in the debate and seek an independent review of the listing decision through Historic Scotland or Historic England.

The existing building is the subject of a planning application that involves its demolition. It will be replaced by homes that will be built by Hafod Housing Association.
