A CHARITY group that aims to tackle poverty in Barry has been presented with a cheque for £600 from the town’s local Asda store.
Representatives from Cadog’s Corner attended the store recently to receive the donation from store manager Gareth Jones, along with Charlene Duddridge the supermarket’s community champion.
Gareth Jones presented the cheque to support the group’s efforts in alleviating food poverty and enhancing community wellbeing in the Cadoxton area.
Charlene Duddridge said: “The grant was provided through the Asda Foundation’s Foodbank Fundamentals Fund, a program specifically designed to assist grassroots not-for-profit organisations whose core purpose is to distribute food and tackle food poverty. The fund helps groups to cover essential needs such as purchasing food and basic hygiene products.”
A representative from Cadog’s Corner expressed gratitude for the funding, highlighting that such support is essential for keeping their much-needed services running and making a tangible difference in the community.
Charlene Duddridge added: “It’s great we can add something to support the groups that build our great communities making a real difference to the lives of people in our area.”
