Renishaw celebrated the 15th anniversary of its Miskin site, close to the M4. The company acquired the former Bosch manufacturing site in September 2011. Since then, the facility has become an important centre for the company’s manufacturing and engineering activities, with around 950 people now employed at the site.

The latest development forms part of a £70 million expansion programme, which will ultimately double the size of the Miskin site by adding 464,000 sqft of new space. The development includes new production facilities and an employee wellbeing centre which features a fully equipped gym and restaurant.

As part of the celebrations, the programme included tethered rides in G-MEAS, Renishaw’s sponsored hot air balloon, which features an accessible basket for people with physical disabilities. The rides raised funds for Llantrisant-based charity 2wish, supporting its work with families affected by the sudden death of a child or young adult.

“We have invested around £150 million in the Miskin site since we acquired it in 2011, and reaching its 15th anniversary is an important milestone for our people and for the wider south Wales community,” said Chris Pockett, head of external communications at Renishaw.
