Too many slip-ups as Cardiff Airport lose to Morriston

CARDIFF Airport’s latest league fixture was away to Morriston Town. A game of defensive errors ended in a disappointing 5-3 defeat.

Airport made the worse possible start when a goal kick from the home team was allowed to bounce on the edge of the penalty area, with Coates lobbing Airport keeper Duggan. Worse was to follow, with Morriston netting twice more in the first 15 minutes.

A long-range free kick was pushed onto the post by Duggan, only for the ball to bounce out to an unmarked Harris who headed home. This was swiftly followed by a clinical finish from Rowe.

Despite the setbacks, Airport were handed a lifeline when Theo Richards’ long-range free kick was fumbled by the keeper, with the ball rolling over the goal line.

However, with half time approaching home striker Rowe won a tussle with Curtis Watkins to slip the ball past Duggan for the fourth goal.

Airport instantly responded with Archie Jones getting around the defence and supplying Alex Watkins with a tap in.

The second half began and the next goal was vital. It was Airport defender Curtis Watkins who tapped in from close range to make it 4-3.

The match turned into a tense affair but it was another defensive error that confirmed Morriston’s victory, as hesitation at the back allowed Harris to float the ball into the empty net to complete a miserable afternoon.
