THE Barry RFC Youth head coach, John Dimond, along with family members, friends and some of his youth team players, took part in the Cardiff Pretty Muddy 5k at Bute Park recently, raising £1,814.46 for Cancer Research UK.
John’s daughter Ruby launched a Just Giving page, with an initial target of £600, spurred on by the fact that her grandfather, John senior, is suffering from cancer. John senior was there to support the team on the day.

Barry’s youth team ended the season with a friendly at Morriston, losing 35-17 to a side which included several Ospreys Academy players. Barry fielded a mixed side, including under-16 players, with a number of second year youth players making their last appearance before moving up to senior rugby.
Dimond’s hopes of reaching the play-off semi-finals in the Cardiff National Premiership Youth competition were dashed when the postponed fixture at Builth Wells could not be rearranged, leaving the young Bombers in fifth place.
As well as running the youth programme next season, Dimond will also be working with club head coach Mike Morgan on a development team – a mix of youth and senior players – in the Conference League.
