Rugby club hosts community fete

BARRY Rugby Club is hosting a community fete at the Reservoir Field on Saturday, 18th July, 11am to 5pm.

The free family-friendly event is being staged in partnership with veterans’ organisations, Armed Forces associations, wellbeing partners and community groups.

There will be an opening ceremony and music from the Tenovus ‘Sing With Us’ choir. The Armed Forces covenant will be signed at midday, when the club commits to supporting serving personnel, veterans and their families.

Community activities start at 12.30pm. As well as demonstrations of walking rugby and touch rugby, there will be carnival games and there will be food and refreshments available.

The following week, the club has a spot at GlastonBARRY Juniors. It’s a chance to meet some of the team, have a chat, and find out how to become part of the Bombers’ family. GlastonBARRY Juniors runs from 11am to 8.30pm on Friday, 24th July.

The club will be highlighting Mini and Junior rugby and Girls’ rugby, both of which offer the chance to learn new skill and make new friends. New players are always welcome. For further information, contact , or for girls’ rugby.

*The club’s Rugby League team is in action at Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday, 25 July, taking on the Royal Marines in a match which kicks off at 12.45pm, the first of four matches. In a triangular competition, Wales play Scotland (2.15pm) and Ireland (3.10pm). Scotland take on Ireland at 4.05pm.
